Start with the surface, not just the metal name
Victory Laser Co provides stainless steel laser engraving and marking in Wilmington, Delaware. Stainless steel items can arrive brushed, polished, textured or coated. Those differences matter: the same artwork will not necessarily have the same appearance on every finish.
Tell us the grade if known, whether there is a coating, and what the item will be used for. A close-up of the marking area and a wider photo of the whole item help us assess access, shape and placement. For a technical part, include a drawing rather than relying on a product name alone.
Logos, text and identification
Common starting points include a business logo, names, part numbers or serial information. We review the artwork at the actual engraving size so small lettering and closely spaced details can be considered before production. A large screen preview is not a reliable test of readability on a small part.
- For a logo: send the original vector artwork if available and the desired width and height.
- For text: supply the exact spelling, capitalization and orientation.
- For variable data: provide a clearly labeled list and explain how each entry should match its item.
- For a code: include the encoded data, available area and scanning requirements. Readability needs to be assessed on the intended surface.
For separate plates and tags, see engraved identification tags. For broader equipment or component work, start with industrial laser marking.
Agree on the result before the full run
Marking appearance depends on the material, surface and chosen process. A dark surface mark and an engraving with material removal are not interchangeable specifications. Tell us whether your priority is visual contrast, a particular appearance or a documented technical requirement, rather than assuming a method from a photograph.
A layout proof confirms wording and placement. When finish, contrast or readability is important, discuss a physical sample as well. Any depth, wear, cleaning or exposure requirement should be included in the inquiry and reviewed before acceptance. We do not treat engraving as a blanket guarantee of corrosion performance or regulatory compliance.
Planning your order
- Send item photos or drawings, material and finish information, and the dimensions of the usable marking area.
- Attach the final artwork or data, quantity and the date you need the finished items.
- Confirm suitability, placement and any sample requirements before buying a batch or arranging a drop-off.

Stainless steel engraving questions
Can you engrave polished or curved stainless steel?
Send the item’s shape, dimensions and finish for review. Surface access and the intended placement determine whether the requested layout is suitable; a familiar material alone does not confirm that every item can be held and marked.
Will the mark look black?
Do not assume a particular color from the word “engraving.” Share the appearance you want so the finish and marking approach can be reviewed, with a sample where needed.
Do you work with other metals?
Yes. Our metal engraving overview covers the broader material range. Send the actual material and coating details so we can assess your specific item.
