Can You Engrave Liquor Bottles With Alcohol Inside?
Yes — laser engraving on glass is a surface-level process. Contents stay sealed and unaffected. Here's how it works.
The Short Answer: Yes, 100% Safe
CO2 laser engraving frosts the outer glass surface only. The contents stay sealed and unaffected. We've engraved thousands of full bottles — Don Julio 1942, Casamigos, Macallan, and more — with no issues.
Why It's Safe: How CO2 Laser Engraving Works
Surface-Only Interaction
The laser beam vaporizes a microscopic layer of glass on the outer surface, leaving a frosted etch.
No Meaningful Heat Transfer
Modern lasers are precise enough that the heat doesn't transfer through the glass to the liquid inside.
You Can See It Working
Watch the glass frost in real time — the contents stay still, sealed, and at room temperature.
Our Engraved Bottle Work

Bottles We Engrave — Full or Empty
You can bring us a sealed bottle, an unsealed bottle, or an empty bottle. We treat all three the same way — surface engraving on the outer glass. The contents (or lack thereof) don't change the process.
- Sealed bottles: bring with the bottle still factory-sealed
- Empty keepsakes: drop off after the celebration
- Custom wine: full or empty, both work
- Champagne: full bottles are fine, but pressurized contents add care

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the engraving damage the bottle or alcohol?
No. Surface-level glass engraving is safe and well-established. The bottle stays structurally sound, and the alcohol inside is unaffected.
How deep is the engraving?
Roughly 0.001-0.005 inches — just enough to frost the surface visibly. Far too shallow to compromise the bottle's structural integrity.
How long does the bottle take?
1-2 business days for engraving once we have your approved design. Rush options available.
Can you engrave plastic bottles or pressurized cans?
We don't recommend it — laser energy interacts unpredictably with plastics and pressurized aerosols. Glass bottles only.
Will the engraving fade?
No. The mark is permanent — frosted glass that lasts as long as the bottle does.
